Holiday Appeal

Design, 3D Printing/Modeling, Award winning
Project Overview
Every year the college sends out a holiday card to show appreciation of our donors and community partners. Since COVID interupted other fundraising this card also became an appeal for donations. For 2022, we printed custom ornaments in our office and sent them to our list. Recipients could then purchase an ornament on behalf of someone else as a gift. This project ended up winning us a silver in the Micro-sites (Fundraising)CASE awards. Other award winners in the category included UC San Diego, University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Cambridge.
My Contributions
I modeled the ornament and, in collaboration with a colleague, printed the ornament in-house. I also designed the card, elements for the micro-site, and the looping 3D animation.
This project is always one of the most creative and challenging projects of the year. Every year we try to raise the bar. This year we decided to try our hands at 3D printing. As someone who had never 3D printed before it was not easy to make the 3D printer play nicely with the metallic filament. But we got it done and were able to sell enough ornaments to make it worthwhile!
