Howard Prep

Project Overview
Howard Training Center is a local non-profit that specializes in helping differently-abled individuals learn skills and gain various forms of employment. They do amazing work that deserves far more recognition than it gets. That's where we came in. They were at a pivotal moment in their history. They needed donors and they needed partners to keep the program going far into the future.
My Contributions
As creative director I drove the direction of the final brand. Our team of designers and I closely collaborated on the logo, tagline, and other branding elements.
It's not often you get to work on a project that truly makes the world a better place, so we were thrilled to help Howard regain its footing in the community and demonstrate that it was the same, dependable non-profit it's been for 70 years. We first proposed a name change. Howard Prep is short and lets you know that this is a place where people prepare for the real world. The new logo conveys the forward progress achieved by Howard's clients.

But a brand isn't just a name and a logo. We helped Howard solidify its mission and guiding values. We sat with the client and worked together on making sure we all knew exactly who Howard was and what they represented.

Our branding process starts with what we call a stylescape, which is a sort of mood board that will guide all subsequent design choices. Through constant communication with the client, we eventually arrived at an aesthetic that everyone was happy with.
